Born in Michigan but raised in Toledo, Ohio, Tonya grew up navigating a life marked by hardship, instability, and a deep longing to belong. Her early years were defined by resilience — learning to survive circumstances that would have broken many, and finding strength in the very challenges that tried to hold her back.
Tonya attended Libbey High School in Toledo, where she began to discover her voice, her love of sports, and her ability to lead. The community she found there planted the seeds for a lifelong commitment to youth development and coaching.
Tonya stepped into coaching as more than a role — it became a calling. Working with youth across Toledo, she built programs that combined athletic development with life skills, mentorship, and character-building. Her teams didn't just compete; they grew into leaders.
Beyond the field, Tonya has dedicated herself to community impact — organizing events, advocating for equity and access, and creating spaces where people who are overlooked find belonging. Her work has touched hundreds of families in the Toledo area.
